Jack Menzies (SULLY). Originally from Scotland, Jack is a film and stage actor based in Los Angeles. Recent credits include Brian in the world premiere of Four Top (Stage Scene LA: Outstanding Lead Performance in a Comedy), Peter Shaw in Silent Sky (Stage Scene LA: Breakout Performance in a Play), and Rodolpho in A View From The Bridge. You can also see him in the feature films What Love Looks Like and You Can’t Escape Me. He received a BFA in Performance from the University of Colorado, Boulder and is also an avid writer.
Jimmy Berry (MARCUS) is a writer-actor from New Jersey. As an actor, he has been seen on Comedy Central, Friday Beers, and on your TV screen; appearing in several national commercials. He has also performed in various plays on various continents with The Actors Gang. As a writer, Jimmy’s work has been published in The Drunken Canal. His feature film Cigarettes Are My Personality is in development with Sight Unseen Pictures. Kylie Buckles-Hall (BOBBY) lives with a heart full of gratitude, rocks in her pockets, and a dream. Jessica Marie Fisher (Playwright) is a playwright and voice actor from NJ. Their first play, Rules for Coming Out…, was a finalist at Strawberry One-Act Festival 2019 and was published by Original Works. Full-lengths: Scrambled Eggs (AriZoni Best New Script, B3 Theatre 2022, Firefly Theatre Group 2024, MT Pockets Theatre 2025). Brian Eckert (Director) (he/him) is a director invested in understanding systems, the how and why we relate to each other. He is also a creative leader and the Founding Producing Artistic Director of This Is A Front. Most recently in Los Angeles, he directed and produced the world premieres of Keep Yourself Safe, or U-Haul Play by Jay Stalder and Mikvah Girls by Emmy Weissman (Best Drama, Hollywood Fringe; Finalist, International Fringe Encore Series at SoHo Playhouse). Other directing credits include Jackie by Elfriede Jelinek, translated by Gitta Honneger; A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay About the Death of Walt Disney by Lucas Hnath; and The Last Supper and Three Years Later by Calamity West. He has worked as an assistant and associate director Off-Broadway and regionally at Ars Nova, Atlantic Theater Company, Classic Stage Company, New York City Center, Pasadena Playhouse, and Two River Theater. Amelia Anello (Sound Designer) is an LA based sound designer and audio engineer. Anthony Savitt (Rehearsal Stage Manager) (he/him) is a musician, product manager, and advocate of alternative transportation and community building, turned stage manager. Anthony has previously stage managed for This Is A Front’s Keep Yourself Safe, or U-Haul Play; Zanni Theatrics' Girl Blood (A Period Piece); Cookie Cutter Theatre Co's Constellations; The Tavern Brawlers' productions of Steve Martin's The Underpants and A Couple of Blaguards; and on the crew of THE KIDS MIGHT DIE both as a producer and tech operator. This Is A Front (Producer) is a company in Los Angeles that aims to stage connection through theatre and social moments. We envision a vibrant creative community that reshapes how we understand our role in each other’s lives.
Our most recent Hollywood Fringe production, Mikvah Girls by Emmy Weissman, premiered at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2024. It received two extensions and numerous awards including the Fringe Award for Best Drama and was a finalist for the International Fringe Encore Series hosted by SoHo Playhouse in New York.
As a company, we are also invested in building creative community, and we design programming with that explicit purpose. Highlighted recent events include Home for the Holidays (holiday cabaret), Artists in Response (a post-2024 election event), and Tales of the Night (a short horror play reading series).
This year, we are producing BREAK-UP SEASON, including two world-premiere plays and a collection of community events examining why we stay in relationships and narratives that no longer serve us. The season kicked off with a sold-out and extended run of Keep Yourself Safe, or U-Haul Play by Jay Stalder.

Playback was originally developed with the support of the Silver Lake Arts Council in partnership with the Los Angeles Public Library system, with Caitlin Charles as Charlie, Tom Lewis as Sully, Andrew Brown as Marcus, and Kylie Buckles-Hall as Bobby, under the direction of Brian Eckert, with dramaturgy by Elizabeth Katz. It was further developed in a workshop produced by This Is A Front, with Everleigh Brenner as Charlie, Luke Sweeney as Sully, Angel Villalobos as Marcus, and Grace Kinsella as Bobby, under the direction of Brian Eckert.
